Wayne Lockwood is a jazz writer based in New York City. He covered the jazz scenes for both the New York Daily News and The Miami Herald, and his work has appeared in hundreds of newspapers across the United States, including The (Newark) Star-Ledger, the (Los Angeles) Daily News, The (Baltimore) Sun, The Seattle Times, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, The Kansas City Star, The Wichita Eagle and The (Honolulu) Advertiser.

He was the editor of “The Book of Monk,” a tribute to jazz giant Thelonious Monk, by Amiri Baraka, which was used as evidence to argue for a posthumous Pulitzer Prize for Monk.

He also was the national Generation X columnist for Knight Ridder-Tribune News Service in the 1990s.

His columns are collected in "Acid Indigestion Eyes," which was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2011 by publisher Codorus Press.
